In House Performances

Each year, we have a winter and spring concert to celebrate the season we are in and the accumulation of the hard work students put in over the course of the semester. All grade levels will participate in these concerts. Later on in 8th grade, students may have the opportunity for extra performances, such as pep rallies! Each concert is open to family and friends.

District Honor Band

The RHSD District Honor Band is an audition based ensemble aiming to provide higher achieving students an opportunity to perform with other middle school students from the district. Students will learn the music over the course of a day and a half, ending with a performance for friends and family.

Concert Performance Assessment (CPA)

CPA is a SCBDA adjudicated event for concert bands. Students will be invited to be in the Honor Band based off of performance, work ethic, and ability to work with others within the classroom. This ensemble will rehearse after school leading up to CPA, as well as a Pre-CPA concert at SMS. At the actual event, students will perform three prepared pieces for the judges, then complete a sightreading example. Family and friends are welcome to attend the concert, but will unable to attend the sightreading portion.

Solo and Ensemble

Solo and Ensemble is a SCBDA event where students can perform a solo or in a small ensemble for adjudication. Students will perform privately for a judge to acquire a ranking highlighting their individual progress as a musician. While friends and family are not permitted in the judge's room, some of our students may be heard performing their selections at our Spring Concert!
